Accessibility Statement

Polish Genealogical Society of New York State (PGSNYS)

PGSNYS is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all visitors, including those with disabilities. We believe that everyone deserves equal access to our genealogical resources, research tools, and society information.

Our goal

We strive to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those with visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor impairments.

What we are doing

We have implemented the UserWay accessibility widget, which provides visitors with a range of tools to customize their experience, including contrast adjustment, text resizing, dyslexia-friendly display, pause animations, and keyboard navigation support. The UserWay widget can be accessed at any time via the accessibility icon displayed on every page of our website.

Known limitations

We are a volunteer-run nonprofit society and are continually working to identify and address accessibility barriers. Some older content, such as scanned historical documents and archival images, may not yet be fully accessible due to the nature of the source material. We are committed to improving access to these resources over time.

Feedback and contact

We welcome your feedback. If you experience any difficulty accessing content on our website, or if you have suggestions for improvement, please contact us:

Email: information@pgsnys.org

Mail: PGSNYS P.O. Box 984 Cheektowaga, NY 14225

We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within five business days.

Third-party and external websites

Our website contains links to external sites maintained by third parties, including genealogical databases, research resources, and social media platforms. These sites are outside our control and we cannot guarantee their accessibility. If you encounter accessibility barriers on any external site we link to, please contact that organization directly.
