Our Work

The Polish Genealogical Society of New York State is an all-volunteer effort to collect, preserve, and share historical records and materials related to Polish genealogy, history, and heritage in New York State. Below is what we’re actively working on, and what we’ve already accomplished.

Active Projects

Dziennik dla Wszystkich Indexing   ● ACTIVE

Indexing birth, marriage, and death notices from the Dziennik β€” over 52,000 entries and counting.  View page β†’

Church Book Indexing   ● ACTIVE

Corpus Christi and St. Hyacinth (Dunkirk) sacramental ledgers are actively being indexed, alongside records pending release and a full searchable collection from nine other parishes.Β  View page β†’

Prayer Card (Obrazki) Collection   ● ACTIVE

An ongoing collection of funerary prayer cards, indexed by surname and open to new donations.Β  View page β†’

Cemetery Restorations   βœ“ COMPLETED

Three Cheektowaga cemeteries β€” St. Stanislaus, St. Adalbert’s, and Holy Mother of the Rosary β€” documented, mapped, and in one case physically restored by PGSNYS volunteers.Β  View page β†’

Polak w Ameryce Digitization & Indexing   βœ“ COMPLETED

A Buffalo Polish-language newspaper (1887–1920), now fully indexed and digitized at NYS Historic Newspapers.  View page β†’
