Thanks to all who attended last night’s meeting with our special guest, Prof. Mateusz Wyżga, who presented the lecture, “Polish Peasants: From Genealogy to Total History.” We had a wonderful turnout, and Prof.’s Wyżga’s lecture was fascinating! The recording, chat, and Prof. Wyżga’s handout are now available on our Meeting Recordings page for members to access.
As was announced at the meeting, the PGSNYS is launching a new one-on-one research assistance project to connect members who are experienced family history researchers (“mentors”) with members who’d like assistance with their research (“clients”). Research sessions will be one hour in length and can be in person (WNY area only), via telephone, or via Zoom. PGSNYS members are entitled to up to three (3), one-hour personal research sessions per year. Further consultations may be arranged by mutual agreement. If you’d like to sign up for a research session, please fill out the request form which is now available on the password-protected Research Assistance page. If you already have some experience in researching your Polish ancestry and you’d like to give back to the community by helping others, there’s a second form to fill out on that same page. A program coordinator will then match mentors with clients. We hope that this new initiative will allow us to better serve and connect with you, our members.
