Summary: This presentation highlights the challenges and solutions facing researchers when conducting genealogy research in Lithuania/Litwa/Litva/Litauen. The first challenge is ensuring that you have gathered all the available U.S. documents regarding your ancestors before trying to “jump across the pond” and beginning your research of Lithuanian documents. Existing online records in Lithuania will be discussed including the new online database of Lithuanian gravesites. Also covered will be the German Census conducted in May 1942 of Lithuania as well as various Facebook groups that can help assist you with your research.
Presenter Bio: Tom Sadauskas has been actively conducting genealogy research since 2000, with a special focus on Eastern Europe. All four of his grandparents and his father were born in Lithuania.
