Summary: The Polish vital records database Geneteka is a go-to resource for all those researching Polish ancestry. In this lecture, Kasia will explain its resources and demonstrate its use, exploring Geneteka from the perspective of beginners with little or no real Polish language ability, and who may never have looked at records on websites in Poland.

About the presenter: Kasia Dane is a long-time genealogical and family researcher who has branched out to transcribing and indexing historical records. In the past 25 years, she has contributed about half a million record entries to sites such as Geneteka and Family Search, as well as posting some on her own web pages in the past. She is largely self-taught, both in transcribing and in learning just enough foreign words to extract the main information from historical records such as birth, marriage, and death records. She is a member of PGSNYS and other Polish genealogical societies.
